Watercolor Ink Abstract Landscape Clouds Stormy

Nature is a wonderful inspiration and difficult master to interpret...but I enjoy trying.  This painting is all about the dark and light in the sky.

California Inland (Original Landscape Painting)

 photo JCStrongWildTemecula2_zpsab7dd167.jpeg

Happy weekend everyone the festivities are over and it's back to the work I enjoy.
I completed this inland painting of Temecula, California over a week ago and now it's ready for the final protective coating.

I like the subtle dusty colors so I'll probably go with a matte finish.  Its as though the artwork will tell you what it needs.

Southwest Memories

The Southwest Memories treasury was triggered by this wonderful photograph my friend sent me. You can see in the photo nature is in charge and beautiful. After thinking about past adventures in Arizona and Utah I decided to put this treasury together:

The southwest landscape is majestic and the artists and artisans capture that beauty plus the traditions in jewelry and leather. The paintings have a beautiful weight and power. I also enjoy the abstract paintings non-traditional expression that captures the southwest….

Nature in the desert, mountains, or sea seems to ground me and that’s a wonderful feeling. I feel grateful to live in a place where nature is close. Most of the artists in the treasury are either part of the Finding Fine Art Team or Native American Forum on Etsy.

"Your Art Work Doesn't Have to Match"

Prior to curating this treasury I remembered an art history teacher saying “art does not have to match.” The focus should be on the beauty and honesty of the art work and how it makes you feel.

The collection is made up of realistic art, abstract paintings, non-representational art, collage, beautiful jewelry, accessories and a delicately beautiful cowl. The thread that holds them together is they can all stand alone as interesting and beautiful work.

I suppose that's something I have to remember and strive for in my own work. Thanks for letting me share now I'm off to paint...

Art Inspired by Birds and Raptors

I'm a member of a variety art teams on Etsy and I often post Etsy Art Treasuries and assume everyone knows what I'm discussing. A friend of mine asked me, what is a treasury? The following is a little information regarding treasuries and my motivation.

An Etsy Treasury is a "member-curated shopping gallery comprised of lists of items. Lists contain 16 items. Members can feature their favorite items, items selected on a theme or whatever they like...."

My treasuries are usually a mix of my favorite art works of fellow team members and new artists. (Click the links on the above treasury and you'll see details regarding each artwork)

I approach a treasury as a creative process. I focus on a theme, find images that are creative, and then mix different genres of art to create a cohesive theme.... Hopefully this mix gels and will highlight the artist and promote the arts.

Candy For Your Walls=Fine Art Friday

It's Fine Art Friday and I thought I'd celebrate by posting this treasury. This work is a celebration of art in different mediums and styles.

I have eclectic tastes that run from realism, impressionism and non-representational art. The main ingredient is the inner connection. The art can be recognisable or not but if a bridge is made between you and the work its magical...

Contemplation and Inspiration

It's been a quite day for me. Holidays are milestones and I usually think of the past and wonder about the future. Actually, all I can do is be content with the present and be grateful for the current gifts in my life... Have a good weekend everyone and peaceful Easter.

Finding Fine Art

It's the first Friday of the month and a great time to find art on Etsy. One of the best options is to look for art teams on etsy for instance the Finding Fine Art Team, Vast Team, Art Walk Etsy Team, and Fine Art Friday Team. "Treasures for Your Apartment" treasury is just an example of the creative work of some of these artists and artisans...

The artists that are part of this treasury have made unique statements with only a black and white palette. Just click "Black and White Vibrations." and find additional information.

Art Treasury "Need Color in 2011?"

The beginning of the New Year is a great time to highlight artists. This gallery/treasury "Need Color in 2011?" has a variety of color, texture, and mediums.

I think many people feel original art or fine art photography is beyond their price range. Those special affordable art treasures are still available and the energy of original art is special. Every artist has a visual story to tell and I think these artists represented have a lot to say ...

First Friday Art Walk and Finding Fine Art

I belong to wonderful online art groups. AWE TEAM (Art Walk Etsy Team) and Vast Teams (Visual Art Street Team) are two that I support. Also Etsy Shop owners also have a movement supporting “finding art” called Fine Art Friday. The members within these groups work tirelessly to promote fine art, artists, and their creations.

So this Friday if you’re looking for art for your home or a gift, please search Etsy Shops and use the tags’ firstfridayartwalk, ffaw, awe team, vast team and fineartfriday you’ll find unique and fun creations . . . The following Etsy Treasury is an example of what you might see.

Original Acrylic Walking Landscape in Corona Del Mar

Walking in Corona Del Mar and caught this scene. I didn’t paint it on the spot. I did my usual took notes and digital photos and reinvented the design and composition later. Trees are great to paint they have spirit...

It’s wonderful it can be a grey day outside (not complaining) but I can paint a bright sunny day and invent my own colors. I’d been painting with ink the last few days. This high key painting was a nice change. This painting was done with acrylics and something new for me a RayMar "Plein Aire Panel."
