Original Watercolor and Ink Painting

I love the vitality of ink on paper. The roots appear to be in Asian calligraphy. Master Calligraphers can sometimes speak volumes with just one stroke.
While I was painting this flower I thought of ancient calligraphers and the beauty of Georgia O'Keefe floral painting.

Painting Watercolor, Ink and Acrylic

This small format artwork (4.5" X 6.5") is a combination watercolor, ink, and acrylic painting. The challenge for me today was to stay loose while painting. The 140 lb. watercolor block gave me that opportunity. The artwork did not have a chance to buckle under the pressure of the ink and acrylic. Enjoy! (My husband is watching the NBA finals this week. I should have called this artwork Hydrangea’s Hoop or Kobe’s Blossom! No, I’m just joking . . .)
